I offer Solution-Focused Therapy to support your wellbeing during pregnancy and early parenthood.

I help you build on your strengths, regain a sense of control, and move towards the experience you want for yourself and your family.

Solution-Focused Hypno-psychotherapy combines talking therapy with guided relaxation, helping your mind focus on positive, helpful suggestions. Using practical, structured strategies, this approach concentrates on the solutions you want to achieve rather than the problems that brought you here, supporting meaningful, positive change in your life.

What to expect during our Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions?

A typical session includes:

Discussion of the issues for which you are seeking help and how you would like things to be different, including your goals and best hopes for how you would like things to be in the future (this could include a wide variety of things, such as wanting to feel more relaxed or confident, to cope better with things in your life, or to overcome a phobia. Goals may also include wanting to change certain behaviours, such as to sleep better, to create better eating habits or to feel more in control of your emotions and calmer as a parent).

Discussion of the changes you may have already observed 'what's been good'.

Information about how the brain works and how it relates to your experiences.

Solution focused questions and other techniques to help you consider and refine your solutions, helping you to move forward in your life. Depending on your circumstances, these discussions may also involve other elements of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) as appropriate.

After this, I'll gently guide you to rest in a deeply relaxed trance state, where your mind can focus on and further absorb and reflect on the things that have been discussed during the session.

Please note that trance used in hypnotherapy is very different from the kind of things you might have seen in ‘stage hypnosis’. The trance we use as therapists is a relaxed state where we experience changes in our conscious awareness – almost like being in a daydream. During this time, the unconscious mind is more aware and can focus on helpful suggestions and thoughts. Trance is a very natural and safe state through which you remain in control.
